About Dr Sivasanker
Dr Vimal Sivasanker is a leading Consultant Adult Psychiatrist practising in London and Hertfordshire. He specialises in a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar affective disorder and psychosis.
Dr Sivasanker completed his undergraduate medical training at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, gaining a degree in Medical Sciences, before proceeding to clinical training at St Bartholomew's and the Royal London School of Medicine. He subsequently completed specialist psychiatric training on the East London, Cambridge and East Anglia rotations — gaining experience across inner-city and rural settings in a diverse range of psychiatric presentations.
He holds particular expertise in neuromodulation — specifically Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Ketamine therapy. He is the Vice Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Committee on ECT and related treatments, a role that reflects his standing as one of the foremost authorities on these therapies in the UK.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Sivasanker has written and contributed to training competencies for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is an active member of the medical community.
